blaugust: introduction
Hi! I'm Bee (she/her), a graduate student in the classics.[1] I love poetry, especially Latin poetry and most of all Ovid, and I'm a pretty devoted Trekkie.
I'm pretty new to this. My site is, strictly speaking, almost two years old, but I only really started working on it in earnest in March of this year.[2] Really, this whole thing is less of a blog and more of a portable art project: I moved cross-country for my graduate program and very few of my physical craft supplies made the trip, so I needed to establish some sort of creative outlet. I justify the time spent coding by posting things, mostly about what I'm reading and some mini tutorials on some of my bits of code,[3] but I post because I want to spend massive amounts of time fucking around with the code and not the other way around.
If you're here, feel free to leave a note in my guestbook. I can also be reached by email or, if you're really feeling wild, Tumblr.
- Tl;dr: I study ancient Roman poetry with a ferocity that makes me extremely fun at parties.^
- You will notice that some of my posts are, in fact, more than two years old. This is because I copied over a bunch of things I wrote on Tumblr and AO3, both of which I've been using for a decade or more.^
- I have an ongoing project where I try to replicate the look of various types of screenshots without having to resort to images; most of my tutorials are related to that.^
